Public perception of your traveler is measured on a reputation scale ranging from -100 to +100. Every newcomer begins their journey at zero.

  • The Path of Honor and Respect (Positive Reputation): By aiding townsfolk and keeping the peace, you earn the trust of the realm. Honorable travelers enjoy merchant discounts of up to 20%, hospitable aid from locals (+3 energy), and periodic rewards issued directly by the government of Areldor.

  • The Outlaw's Path (Negative Reputation): Engaging in dubious schemes, deceit, and crime may yield quick profit, but it will swiftly turn Areldor against you. Merchants will raise prices-imposing markups up to 200%-and encounters with town guards along the roads will become an ever-present threat.

14 Daily Errands

Each day, local figures, artisans, merchants, and representatives of the underworld post 14 distinct errands across the realm.

You can prove your worth through every facet of life in Areldor:

  • Defending the lands against monsters and engaging in duels with rival travelers;

  • Clearing treacherous dungeons;

  • Gathering valuable resources, supplying potions, and trading gear;

  • Fighting for territory control and claiming land holdings.

Travel Encounters and Road Events

Your reputation travels ahead of you. As you journey across Areldor, the encounters you face will depend entirely on your standing:

  • Guard Encounters: Outlaws caught on the road must choose whether to flee, offer a bribe, or stand and fight. Victory allows you to claim the guards' gear, but defeat will cost you 35% of your carried gold.

  • Townsfolk Encounters: Notorious travelers may intimidate residents or appease them with crafting materials. Conversely, peaceful citizens will eagerly assist heroes of noble standing.

  • Hidden Treasures: Any traveler, regardless of reputation, may discover abandoned chests along the road containing gold or training tokens.
